Health Insurance Policy Types
With health-care in the United States so expensive, paying for it out of pocket is an almost unimaginable idea for most people. Many turn to insurance companies to help them manage their medical expenses. Whether benefits are provided by an employer or the state, or paid for individually, having health coverage can dramatically reduce the costs incurred if a serious (or even not so serious) illness or injury occurs.
While this is obviously a positive, the various types of health care plans available may at first seem overwhelming, particularly to those who have never been insured before. PPO, HMO, POS -- these may sound like meaningless letters if they are not explained simply. And indeed, though each plan carries its own special complexities, it is not hard to gain an overall understanding of the differences between systems.
